Team called to search for a missing kayaker who had been seen in difficulties by a member of the public on the River Tees in Winston. The team were stood down whilst assembling when the kayaker was confirmed safe and well.

The Team were asked by the North East Ambulance Service to provide a 4 wheel drive ambulance and crew to assist during a period of heavy snow. We crewed one of our Land Rovers based in the Durham area with a doctor, advanced medic and blue light qualified driver for 24 hours from Saturday afternoon. The Team treated around 20 patients and transported several of them to hospitals in the North East.

Team assembled in case assistance was required with the floods in Durham or neighboring counties. In the event we were not called upon to take any action and returned to standby at about 22.00 as local river levels peaked.

The Team were asked to support the continuing large scale North Pennine search in the Crossby Ravenstone area for a missing female with Alzheimers who had taken her dog for a walk two days early and not been seen since. A body and the missing dog (who was unhurt) were found by the Team near the M6 - just over 4km from her home.

Team called to search for a pair of poorly equipped paddlers, paddling on the river Tees from Croft near Darlington. The missing persons were reported as 2 hours overdue. The Team were stood down whilst assembling when the missing paddlers turned up safe and well.

Team called to assist the Police in a search for an elderly man suffering from dementia last seen in Darlington Town Centre on Monday evening. As the Team were deploying he was found inside a building by staff as they arrived for work on Tuesday morning.

The Team assisted in a major search for a missing teenager alongside the police and fire service with further assistance from Swaledale MRT. The Team searched the river and river banks from Witton Park down to Bishop Auckland. The body of the missing teenage was recovered by the police divers very close to where he was last seen later that evening.

Whilst carrying out medical cover for a running race in Hamsterley Forest team members were asked by the police to assist a mountain biker who had hit a tree at speed and injured himself. We treated the injured man in a vacuum mattress and on a stretcher and then carried him to a waiting ambulance.

We were called out in the early hours of Friday 2nd July to search for a missing elderly couple. Our search was centred around their car which had been parked on the A689 between Wolsingham, and Frosterley Unfortunately nothing was found.

A man who was swimming just below Low Force submerged in the river and was not seen again. TWSMRT assisted with a search of the River Tees from Low Force to Middleton in Teesdale. The body of the missing man was recovered by police divers the following day.

The man had last been seen at his home in Middleton St George (near Darlington) at 23.45 the previous evening. As the Team searched the surrounding area supported by Cleveland Team the missing male was found by a member of the public having walked across country in a North Easterly direction.

A request for assistance from NEAS to a report of a casualty with a head injury near Winch Bridge. On arrival at the scene it transpired that the NEAS Paramedic had treated a women with a cut to her nose and was walking her from Salmon Leap waterfall to Winch Bridge and then to the road. A few team members helped with the walkout and the rest of the team were stood down.

The Team were called to carry out a bankside and river search for a student last seen leaving a night club at approximately midnight the evening before. The Canoe Group covered the river from Durham to Finchale while bankside searches were completed of the river banks in Durham. The river was in spate and the weather conditions horrendous making searching tricky. Nothing was found. The search was postponed
