Sea & Mud Challenge

Teesdale & Weardale Search & Mountain Rescue Team are organising a mountain bike challenge across the north of England to help raise money for the Rescue Team and the Fire Service Benevolent Fund.

Event organiser Steve Marrs said "The challenge is to cycle on mountain bikes from the East cost of to the West Coast - A total of 187 miles over three days. The challenge will start with your back wheel in the Sea at Tynemouth on the North-East coast and goes via , through Keilder to finish when your front wheel gets wet at Whitehaven on the Each day cyclists will ride approximately 60 miles. There will be a support van to shadow cyclists along the route and carry equipment - this means less to carry whilst riding. This is a great opportunity for either individuals or a small group of friends to cycle a coast to coast route without having to organise the back up support".

The cost of the event will be £60 per person to cover 2 nights accommodation and transport costs. The event will commence on Friday 16th June and finish on Sunday 18th June 2006.

More details and entry and sponsor forms are available on the teams website www.twsmrt.org.uk/SeaAndMud/
